    Huck Finn Cap

    September 27, 2012 / 4 Comments

I am welcoming the end of gardening season, because it means that I don’t have to feel bad about staying inside and sewing now! My first sewing project in a while was for my friend’s kid, Declan, who just turned two. For his birthday, I decided to make him the Huck Finn Cap by Sew Liberated. I bought the pattern and the fabric at the West Seattle Fabric Company. This hat came together really fast. After sewing all those 30 plus hour dresses, it was nice to make something that I could complete in just a few hours. I also love that you can make the lining a contrast fabric. So cute.…

    Palette Challenge- Completed Crepe Dress

    July 19, 2012 / 5 Comments

Okay, so I realize that the Colette Patterns 2012 Spring/SummerPalette Challenge ended ages ago, but I did start this dress within the window (and I finished it June 30th and am just now blogging about it), so I am still going to consider this dress part of this challenge. I got two out of three of my projects completed. That’s not bad considering it’s Summer and I now know that I won’t sew as much in the Summer. I love love love this dress. I love the fit, that it is a wrap dress, the lining (and the weight of the dress created by the lining) and most of all that…

    Pink-errific Bias Cut Renfrew Top!

    July 10, 2012 / 3 Comments

Catching up on posts, catching up on posts (sung in sing song-y voice)…yeah! I’ve been making lots and posting nothing! So I have a backlog! I think it was one of the first days that we knew that my mom was in the clear, that I took my long awaited Sewaholic “Renfrew” class at Made Sewing Studio. Since I had bought a serger and taken a class on how to use my serger, I had been wanting to take a knitwear class. I had also seen Lladybird’s multiple Renfrew tops and knew I wanted to make that at some point as well. So imagine how delighted I was when Made…

A Bartenders Dilemma: What do we do with all the Crown Royal Bags?

    June 4, 2012 / 16 Comments

A Bartenders Dilemma: What to do with the Crown Royal Bags? Thanks Lilly for letting me do a guest post my Crown Royal bag, sewing extravaganza. I’m a bartender at the Streamline Tavern and I have a hard time throwing away the bags that the Crown Royal whisky comes in.  My customers are maxed out; they don’t want them any more,.. but the bags are too nice to throw away. We joked about making a quilt out of them, then someone with a smart phone actually did a web search on Crown Royal quilts. Lo and Behold, there are dozens of Crown Royal quilts out there! This tweaked my competitive,…

    Palette Challenge update: Crepe dress

    May 28, 2012 / No Comments

We’ve been having some pretty nice weather in Seattle lately, so I’ve been doing more gardening than sewing lately. My dog Charlie, is usually my garden helper. He likes to sit out in the garden with me while I work, or just roll on his back in the grass. He’s nine now and starting to get lumpy, as Labs tend to do. So we just had to have one of his bumps removed. Since Charlie is recovering and can’t really go outside much right now, I have a good excuse to stay inside and catch up on some sewing. Now Charlie is my sewing helper! My second project for the Colette…
