Matt’s Birthday Negroni Shirt
Once again, I have been a bit absent on this blog lately. Between ukulele lessons on Tuesday nights (plus practice throughout the week) and my knitting group on Wednesday nights and then trying to get some exercise occasionally and balance family life (in-laws were in town, Matt turned 40), I have been BUSY! 2015 is shaping up to be an awesome year so far, so these are good problems to have. I’m just living life in real-time, yo. I have been making stuff, I’m just backlogged on blogging about it. So let’s start with Matt’s birthday shirt! I wish I could say I made him a birthday suit, because that…

Ninja Shirt for Owen
The holidays are over and it’s back to reality. It means I get to finally share the gifts I made though. Actually it’s just gift singular this year, as I only made one thing to give away: a ninja shirt for my nephew! Pattern- Camp Shirt from One-Yard Wonders– Can be made in sizes 2T-4T. My nephew is about 18 months old, so I cut a 2T. Fabric- “Ninjas Don’t Sweat” by Lily Gonzalez-Creed, available at Windham Fabrics. Isn’t it adorable? I bought mine at my local fabric store, West Seattle Fabric, a while back and it was so popular that they were almost sold out. It comes in gray too, but they were already out…

Completed: Miette Cardigan
I almost can’t believe it, my Miette Cardigan is finally finished! And it only took me a year! Oof. In my defense, some things came up and I did sew a wedding dress in that time as well. There is a whole new level of pride that came with completing this sweater though. It was probably a combo of how long it took, and how new I was to knitting when I first started, that made it feel like an impossible task at times. When I started this cardigan, I had only been knitting for a short time and had made a couple of scarves, a couple of wrist bands and some handwarmers. No…

Dahlia Sewalong- My Plaid Dahlia Dress
Now that the wedding is over and done with, I feel like I have all this free time on my hands… to do things like sewalongs! The timing of the release of the Colette Patterns Dahlia dress and subsequent sewalong could not have been better. I have a nice plaid shirting that I found in the remnant pile at Pacific Fabrics and have been wanting to make Matt a Negroni out of it, but I’ve been sitting on it, since I had never sewn with plaids before and was a little intimidated by it. The Dahlia dress was designed with plaids in mind and came with a plaid matching guide in the form of…

DIY Burlap Bunting
I think my favorite part of planning Matt and I’s wedding was making the decorations. I’m not sure if bunting is trendy or classic at this point, but I love how it looks and it’s a great way to create signage, so I knew wanted to make some for our wedding. It’s also easy to make in different materials and colors, so there are ways to make it your own. I’d been seeing burlap all over Pinterest and in floral supply places (I guess it’s all the rage now), but it kind of makes sense. It’s a cool texture, it provides a neutral color to work with and it’s cheap. Sign me…

Pattern Testing: Jennifer Lauren Cressida Skirt
After the wedding was over (and with it all the planning that had taken up so much of our time for so many months), I kept getting asked what I was going to do with all my new free time when I got home. My answer was, “Whatever I want!”. I knew I wouldn’t have a hard time finding things to do and just a couple of days after we got home, I got an email asking me if I wanted to be pattern tester for Jennifer Lauren‘s new Cressida Skirt Pattern. Hell yeah, I did! I jumped on that opportunity. I had never been a pattern tester before, but…

Fitting My Wedding Dress: Ava Muslin #2- a Wearable Muslin
It’s hard to believe that it has been over a year already since Matt and I got engaged. It felt like we had so much time to plan the wedding and somehow, suddenly, it’s only 9 weeks away! We are doing pretty well planning-wise. We were able to get the big things nailed down back in March, while we were in Vermont, like the catering and the tent. The rest of it we have been able to work on from here, like the wedding website, “Save the Date” cards, invitations, having rings made and getting Matt’s suit ordered, etc.. All the while, I have been slowly working on my wedding…

Mosaic Flower Stone Workshop Recap
I don’t know what the word is for me; life-long learner, school-a-holic, knowledge junkie? Yikes. Somehow none of those terms sound good. All I know is, I sure do like to be in school, taking classes and learning stuff. I was in college for 7 years after all. When my blogging bud, Stacy Brewer, of the blog Seattle Seedling announced her plans of starting an “Urban Farm Schoolhouse”, I was totally on board. I was especially happy to see that she was offering a Mosaic Flower Stone Workshop. I had seen some of her mosaics on her blog and was totally jealous of her skills, so I signed up immediately. I’ve been reading Stacy’s…
