    Tie Dye Sallie Maxi Dress

    July 22, 2020 / 2 Comments

It’s sort of become a tradition for me to sew myself a dress for my birthday. By sort of, I mean I do it about every other year. With a big party out of the question this year, I didn’t even think about sewing a dress until just a few days before my birthday. It just so happened that I had this awesome tie dye knit fabric in my stash (courtesy of @melizzamakes) that was perfect for sewing up a quick Closet Core Patterns Sallie Maxi Dress! Details Pattern Closet Core Patterns Sallie Maxi Dress Fabric Fabric scored at a Seattle Sews Fabric swap (back when we could do that…

    Nautical Birthday Emery Dress

    November 5, 2018 / 3 Comments

It’s become a tradition for me to make myself a dress to wear at my annual chicken bingo birthday party and despite how busy I have been this year, I decided I couldn’t break tradition and should sew a dress about a week before the party (this should sound familiar to a lot of you). Thanks to ye old stash, I already had some summery nautical Michal Miller border print fabric in my stash that I had purchased specifically to make a Christine Haynes Emery dress. Details Cut a size 8 at the shoulders and graded to a 12 at the waist. Took shoulders in 1″ Brought up armscye 1/2″ Lengthened bodice…

    40th Birthday Cambie Dress

    July 27, 2016 / 2 Comments

I try to sew myself a dress for my birthday every year, but only manage to get to it about every other year. It’s a good goal though, because it gives me a deadline and feels special to wear on my birthday. One year, I sewed myself a Colette Crepe and the year I got married I wore my Victory Pattern Ava wearable muslin. I have been wanting to sew the Sewaholic Cambie Dress for a long time (this pattern came out in 2012), so I am totally late to the party in discovering what an awesome pattern it is. Pattern- Sewaholic Pattern Cambie Dress Fabric- I’m not sure if this fabric qualifies as Swiss Dot or not, but…

Fitting My Wedding Dress: Ava Muslin #2- a Wearable Muslin

    July 9, 2014 / 4 Comments

It’s hard to believe that it has been over a year already since Matt and I got engaged. It felt like we had so much time to plan the wedding and somehow, suddenly, it’s only 9 weeks away! We are doing pretty well planning-wise. We were able to get the big things nailed down back in March, while we were in Vermont, like the catering and the tent. The rest of it we have been able to work on from here, like the wedding website, “Save the Date” cards, invitations, having rings made and getting Matt’s suit ordered, etc.. All the while, I have been slowly working on my wedding…

    Palette Challenge- Completed Crepe Dress

    July 19, 2012 / 5 Comments

Okay, so I realize that the Colette Patterns 2012 Spring/SummerPalette Challenge ended ages ago, but I did start this dress within the window (and I finished it June 30th and am just now blogging about it), so I am still going to consider this dress part of this challenge. I got two out of three of my projects completed. That’s not bad considering it’s Summer and I now know that I won’t sew as much in the Summer. I love love love this dress. I love the fit, that it is a wrap dress, the lining (and the weight of the dress created by the lining) and most of all that…
