Robot Dog Sweater
The pattern is the “Robo Dog Coat” from the book Knits of Tomorrow: Toys and Accessories for your Retro-Future Needs and was originally knit for my mother’s dog Mickey. Sadly, Mickey passed away before I was able to finish it, but I was able to give it to an adorable little Dachshund mix named Junebug and it fits her perfectly! All the details are on my Ravelry page, but the yarn I used was the Berocco DK Solids and I only needed one skein of each color. Completed: Miette Cardigan
I almost can’t believe it, my Miette Cardigan is finally finished! And it only took me a year! Oof. In my defense, some things came up and I did sew a wedding dress in that time as well. There is a whole new level of pride that came with completing this sweater though. It was probably a combo of how long it took, and how new I was to knitting when I first started, that made it feel like an impossible task at times. Work in Progress- Miette Cardigan: body bound off!
Last week, Matt and I went to Vermont to do some of the planning for our wedding. We kept pretty busy while we were there, meeting with wedding vendors, hanging with family and participating in “sugaring” season (stay tuned for that post). I love Vermont. It is so beautiful and relaxing. Between things, I did get to squeeze in some knitting in Matt’s mom’s comfy sun room. It became my favorite knitting spot while we were there. Work in Progress- Miette Cardigan
I am thrilled that I have gotten this far knitting my Miette cardigan by Andi Satterlund. I had been told, by some of my blogging buds, that the Miette was a good beginner’s sweater, but when I looked at the pattern it was like Greek to me. Blogcademy Handwarmers
So it may seem like I didn’t knit anything for a long time and then just jumped to knitting the Miette Sweater. Well I did kind of jump from scarves and wristbands, skipping over socks and hats, and go to straight knitting a sweater. A Gray Ribbed Scarf for Mother’s Day
With my mom being so sick this past year, it has been a roller coaster ride of a year. My mother has proven to be one tough cookie though. She had a rough go over the winter. As a result of the liver disease, she had pneumonia twice and several bouts of hepatic encephalopathy, where she was confused, sometimes to the point of unresponsiveness. I am (and I think the doctors are too) surprised and impressed by how well she is doing health-wise and how gracefully she is accepting HUGE changes in her life. Well, I did it. My first post was on February 19th, 2012, so Rake and Make is one year old as of today. This will be my 53rd post, which means I met my goal of posting an average of once a week! Wild and Free Wristbands
My second knitting project ever! These were actually belated Christmas presents for some girlfriends of mine that have lovingly become known as “wild and free” (vs. “tamed and tied down” like the rest of us). Meaning, they’re spontaneous and do cool shit like go to France on a whim, sip tequila in fake eyelashes and have impromptu dance parties.
