    2015 Year in Review

    January 1, 2016 / 7 Comments

Even though this blog can feel like a chore at times (I admit it), I’m always glad I took the time to document the important stuff. I’m especially thankful at the end of a year and the beginning of a new one, because it feels good to look back at previous year’s goals and review. In 2015, I didn’t totally stick to the list, which is fine, goals can morph and change, but I still feel like I accomplished a lot. Here’s how I did in 2015. GARDENING 2015 Gardening Goals- Grow my usual crops and preserve some of it– Check. 5 1/2 pints of tomato basil jam (canned) 6 1/2 pints of jalapeño…

    2014 Year in Review

    December 31, 2014 / 3 Comments

Looking back at 2014 is tricky. It was a year of a lot of change. If you have been reading this blog for awhile, some of you may already know of some of the events of the year. It’s not at all easy to sum up, and that may be why I have found myself compacting it into this sentence- In five months, I lost my mother and two dogs and got married. It seems kind of blunt, but it’s true and a lot can be gathered from it. Of course the year wasn’t all bad. In the midst of all that tragedy, I had one of the best days of my life: my…

    2013 Year in Review

    January 1, 2014 / 2 Comments

Well, 2013 is over. Following on the heels of a previous rough year, 2013 was a year of serious ups and downs and it started at the very bottom. I began last year, in the ER with my mom, which set in motion a chain of difficult life changing events for our whole family. Still exhausted from 2012, it was challenging to stay positive last year. I could recite a whole litany of clichés here, like “whatever doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger” or “it’s always darkest before the dawn”. Maybe it’s easy to say those things when times are tough, because they make us feel better and it’s hard to…

    2012 Year in Review

    January 1, 2013 / 8 Comments

So I had plans for the some blog posts that I just haven’t had a chance to get around to, such as post about my lovely Renfrew cowl neck shirt that I made to wear to holiday parties (and did wear…a lot). I will do a full post later, but here are a couple of photos in the meantime. I also really wanted to write a “year in review” post to highlight some of my accomplishments this year with gardening and crafting. As many of you know though, my mom has not been well since June. I wrote about it here. She never got much better after that and just…
