2013 Year in Review
Well, 2013 is over. Following on the heels of a previous rough year, 2013 was a year of serious ups and downs and it started at the very bottom. I began last year, in the ER with my mom, which set in motion a chain of difficult life changing events for our whole family. Still exhausted from 2012, it was challenging to stay positive last year. I could recite a whole litany of clichés here, like “whatever doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger” or “it’s always darkest before the dawn”. Schoolhouse Craft Fall Conference 2013 Recap
After attending Schoolhouse Craft‘s Blogger’s Summer Camp back in June, I immediately signed up for their two-day Fall Conference, before I even knew what classes were going to be offered. The price was right and I figured if it was going to be similar to Blogger’s Summer Camp, but longer and with the same kind of people, it would be yet another opportunity to learn and get to know more like-minded and talented folks (I would say women, but occasionally a guy or two shows up). Billed as a weekend for “Creative Entrepeneurs”, the Schoolhouse Craft Fall Conference offered classes for the absolute beginner and established businesses. I’m kind of in the middle.…

Makers Market Recap
It’s been an exciting time over here at Rake and Make HQ! So exciting that this blog post was scheduled for last week and got missed. Makers Market was such a well put together and fun event, that I have to still blog about it, even it if it is a wee bit late. For those of you that missed my post announcing this event, Makers Market was a neighborhood craft fair of sorts, featuring local artisans, and took place at White Center’s own Center Studio.
